CS2 comms review, synced to the round

Subtick Recorder sits in your team's TeamSpeak channel and records every linked player on their own track. Open the demo and the comms play in time with the 2D round, so you hear the call at the moment the site fell.

How the recording works

Invite Subtick Recorder to your team's TeamSpeak channel. Each player links once by typing !link with a code from the site. When two linked teammates are in the channel, the recorder starts by itself and posts a notice in the channel. It stops by itself after five quiet minutes without a linked player.

  • One track per player, so you can solo or mute anyone.
  • Only linked players are recorded. Anyone else in the channel is not.
  • Linked players can also start and stop it with !rec and !stop.
  • Up to five TeamSpeak channels per team.

How it lines up with the demo

On a scrim played on a Subtick server, the server writes clock markers into the match, so the comms line up exactly. For other demos, Subtick uses a recording start time pasted into the game chat if there is one, and otherwise matches when people start talking to when the kills happen.

If it is still a beat off, nudge it by up to two minutes either way.

What you do with it in review

Solo your IGL and hear what was called before the execute. Mute everyone except the player who died first and hear whether he asked for the trade. Pin a note or a drawing to the tick, and it waits on that moment of the round for the rest of the team.

Who can hear it

Only members of the team whose recorder captured it. Recordings are stored privately and only play through signed links. Recordings that never match a demo, or that you unlink, are deleted after three months.

Questions

Who does the recorder record?

Only players on your team who have linked themselves with !link. Anyone else in the channel is not recorded, and the recorder posts a notice in the channel when it starts.

Do we have to start it before every scrim?

No. It starts by itself when two linked teammates are in the channel. Linked players can also start and stop it with !rec and !stop.

Does it work with Discord?

No. The recorder joins TeamSpeak channels.

How long can one recording be?

Up to six hours per session.

How long do you keep recordings?

As long as they belong to a demo. Recordings that never match a demo, or that you unlink, are deleted after three months.
