How to find your CS2 authentication code and match sharing code

Both codes come from Steam. The game authentication code lets an app read your CS2 match history, and a match sharing code points to one match. Give an app both, and it can find each new match you play and fetch its demo.

Start practising

Sign in with Steam. Free right now, no signup form.

The game authentication code

Create it on Steam's help site, help.steampowered.com, under Counter-Strike 2. Sign in, create the code and copy it. It looks like AAAA-AAAAA-AAAA.

The code only gives access to your match history. It stays valid until you revoke it on Steam.

The match sharing code

A match sharing code identifies one match. It starts with CSGO- followed by five groups of five characters, even in CS2.

  • On Steam: the page with your authentication code also shows the code of your most recent match. Steam calls it a match token there.
  • In the game: open the Watch tab and Your Matches. Each recent match has a sharing code you can copy.

What they are for

Demo and stats sites use them to import your matches. With your authentication code and one known sharing code, an app can ask Steam for the code of your next match, then the one after, and fetch the demo of each.

That is why you only enter a sharing code once. The app finds the matches after it by itself.

Using them with Subtick

Paste both codes into Subtick. From then on it fetches your new Premier and competitive matches, and the demos wait in the 2D viewer after you play. Your authentication code is stored encrypted, the demos go into a personal folder only you can see, and you can remove the codes at any time.

Questions

Is it safe to share my CS2 authentication code?

It only gives access to your CS2 match history, not to your Steam account. Give it only to apps you trust, and revoke it on Steam if you stop using one.

What does a CS2 authentication code look like?

AAAA-AAAAA-AAAA: groups of four, five and four characters.

Why does my sharing code start with CSGO?

The format is older than CS2 and stayed when CS2 replaced CS:GO in September 2023.

Do I need a new sharing code for every match?

No. An app with your authentication code finds the next codes itself. You enter one recent sharing code once.
