CS2 practice config: the commands you need

Start a local server

Turn on the developer console in Settings, under Game, and open it with the ~ key. Type map followed by the map name, like map de_mirage, and the game starts a server on your own PC with you on it.

Most practice commands need sv_cheats 1, which only works on a server you control.

The commands

Type these in the console, or save them as a config file. The numbers are a common starting point. Change them to taste.

• sv_cheats 1 allows the cheat-protected commands.
• mp_warmup_end ends the warmup.
• sv_infinite_ammo 1 gives you infinite ammo.
• ammo_grenade_limit_total 5 lets you carry five grenades at once.
• sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1 shows a preview of where the grenade will land while you hold it.
• sv_showimpacts 1 marks where your bullets land.
• mp_buy_anywhere 1 and mp_buytime 9999 let you buy anywhere, at any time.
• mp_startmoney 60000 and mp_maxmoney 60000 give you money to spare.
• mp_freezetime 0 removes freeze time, and mp_roundtime_defuse 60 makes a round last an hour.
• mp_respawn_on_death_t 1 and mp_respawn_on_death_ct 1 bring you back when you die.
• bot_kick removes the bots.
• mp_restartgame 1 restarts the game so the new settings apply.

Commands to use while you practise

• sv_rethrow_last_grenade throws your last grenade again. Bind it to a key.
• noclip lets you fly through walls to get to a spot.
• god stops you taking damage.

Save it as a config file

Put the commands in a text file called prac.cfg, one per line, in the game\csgo\cfg folder inside your CS2 install. After the map loads, type exec prac in the console and all of them run at once.

Configs written for CS:GO can contain commands that CS2 no longer has. If a line does nothing, that is usually why.

Or type .prac on a Subtick server

Start a server from the Subtick site and Steam connects you. Type .prac and it loads the practice config for you: cheats, infinite ammo, grenade trajectory, no warmup, buy anywhere, buddha and the rest of the practice cvars. An empty server stops itself after ten minutes.

• .rethrow throws the same grenade again, and .traj turns the trajectory preview on or off for the whole server.
• .savepos stores your spot, and .loadpos takes you back to it.
• .noflash stops flashbangs blinding you, and .clear removes every grenade on the map.
• .bot spawns a standing bot, and .cbot a crouched one.
• .prac off leaves practice.
